TAX PREPARATION CANCELLED

The national AARP Foundation will not permit the counselors at the Rice Lake Senior Center to prepare income taxes until further notice.  Not knowing when this will be possible, there will be no income tax returns electronically prepared at the Senior Center this year.  AARP wants to protect the taxpayer and the counselors during the pandemic.  We regret the inconvenience this causes many of you.

Seniors,

We are moving into the second month of 2021 and not much has changed so far.  We are all hopeful for the vaccine and the lifting of restrictions.  We are desperate to reopen the center and bring everyone back in together.  We need to be patient and open slowly and safely.  Tax help and Rosemaling will be resuming in February and hopefully other classes soon after.  Small rentals will also be available.

As for the nutrition program, I have no information on when it will be safe to gather inside the center for meals.  The Center is looking into offering the Community Breakfast again in March or April as a take out.  Remember we do still offer the Grab and Go Monday through Friday.

I wish I had better news to share but we are still waiting for mass vaccinations and for Covid 19 to give up its grip on the country.

Grab & Go

Grab and Go will continue as long as we can’t gather at in the center’s dining room. Remember we need to know if you want a meal to pick up by 11am the day before. Please call  715-234-7224. We order only as much food as we need.

The suggested donation per meal is $4.00 if you are over 60 years old. Under 60 is a firm payment of $9.00. To make donations we accept cash and checks for the exact amount you want to pay the first person when picking up your meal. We cannot make change.  Meals are delivered in Front of the center on Humbird Street.  Please line up on Humbird Street from Wilson Avenue toward Main Street.  Orange cones are out in line up area.

Please do not line up before 11:45am as the regular Meals on Wheels drivers need to get thru first. Be safe and mindful of others as you lineup, also be aware of other traffic on Humbird Street and vehicles exiting the ally. Everyone will get their meal. If you are picking up for someone else, tell the first person outside who checks you off the list and receives donations.  Please stay in your car and maintain proper distancing. Everyone is also required to fill out a Grab & Go Assessment for the program funding.

Meals on Wheels and Grab & Go are growing daily so please be patient with us. There is only 3 to 4 people packaging all the meals.
